  Sustainability The sun's energy, or solar light, is a non-cost source of  renewable  energy that cannot be exhausted.   Fossil-based fuels, on contrary have a limitless resource and release greenhouse gases and other pollutants in the process of extraction, processing, and combustion.   Solar panels, on the other hand, are not a source of emissions when they are in usage, but they are constructed from different materials that require different quantities of energy and resources.   The energy required in the extraction of raw material and create products is known as the "  "embodied energy '.   The time required to pay back the embodied energy is calculated in years.   This is called"the total energy return time (EPBT).
